Legal Advisor to the Prime Minister Gali Baharav Meyara has determined that tens of millions of shekels should be deducted from the budget designated for the "dropout yeshivas" of the Haredi public.
According to a report this evening (Thursday) on 'Kan News', these are yeshivots that are budgeted by the Ministry of Social Affairs, with this year's budget being 35 million NIS.
Last year, these meetings were budgeted with 73 million shekels from welfare funds and coalition funds.
According to the data, approximately 201% of young Haredi men between the ages of 17 and 23 are registered in these yeshivahs.
These institutions enroll young Haredi men between the ages of 17 and 23, the age of conscription. After the High Court of Justice overturned the deferral arrangement and applied conscription to the entire public, a petition was filed with the High Court demanding that the budgets be withdrawn from these yeshivas, similar to the child support payments for those who are required to conscript.
As stated, the Ombudsman determined that the state should stop the budgets transferred to those institutions, and continue to transfer them only in relation to those students who receive individual exemption from service in the IDF.
This position of the Attorney General will be submitted to the High Court of Justice soon.
These are yeshivas that serve as a 'refuge' for young Haredi students who are facing dropping out. In these yeshivas, the pace and level of learning are adapted to the students.
