Judge Hofit Gershon Yizreali said that although it is clear to her that the cashier employees are in real distress, management also has no control over what will happen - and that from a legal perspective this is a wildcat strike.
The Ministry of Health called on the court to order an end to the strike: "Already in its first hours, the strike is causing serious harm to thousands of patients, including the elderly, children and chronically ill, and the cumulative damage to the health system and the public is very heavy."
The chairman of the Clalit workers' committee, Prosper Ben-Hamo, claimed that the Ministry of Health and the resigning Clalit CEO Eli Cohen conspired to take over the health fund and bypass agreements regarding employee conditions.
In a conversation with 'Kan News', Ben Hamo said: "The connection between the CEO of the fund and the CEO of the Ministry of Health is very dangerous for the health system and our employees.
"We will fight, this is just the beginning right now, the strike that was just now is a warning - because (their) idea is to harm the rights of the workers, their wages and with a wave of the hand they want to destroy the entire magnificent health system called Clalit Health Services, they want to destroy it. We will not let anyone harm the fund, and if it seems that they continue - I declare here, there will be an abandonment of all the hospitals and clinics of the Clalit Health Fund."
The reason for the strike that began this morning is the decision of Health Minister Uriel Bosso to appoint an external committee to examine the financial stability of Clalit Health Insurance and the conduct of its board of directors.
