AThe inauguration of the new and advanced terminal in North Jerusalem: Deputy Minister Uri Maklev arrived at the terminal today (Monday), where he met with senior officials from the Jerusalem Transportation Authority, and Superbus and Extra companies that operate the lines at the new terminal - led by the Director General of the Ministry of Transportation, Moshe Ben Zaken, through the National Public Transportation Authority.

At the center of the upgrade: the opening of a new transportation terminal, the Izhar-ul-Aziz Terminal in the Ramot neighborhood in northern Jerusalem.

The terminal is expected to improve public transportation accessibility in the neighborhood and provide a solution for Extra's service lines in the north of the city. This follows recent major service increases and the fact that the existing terminal can no longer accommodate the multiple trips.

As part of the move, several central lines will be moved to the new terminal, with their routes updated accordingly, including: 61, 63, 64, 81 and 86, which serve thousands of passengers every day.

At the same time, and in light of growing demand from residents and passengers, line 516, which was founded about two years ago at the initiative of Deputy Minister Maklev and connects the northern and southern neighborhoods of the city, will undergo a significant upgrade.

The line, which was very successful with high occupancy throughout all operating hours, will now be operated using articulated buses (long buses with double capacity), with the aim of providing a more convenient and efficient service to the large number of passengers using the line.

Deputy Minister Maklev welcomed the moves: "This is another service improvement in public transportation. The terminal will change the transportation map and streamline service in the north of the city. We continue to work to improve service for passengers, while providing solutions tailored to needs that arise from the field. Public transportation is an essential service, and we will continue to invest in it for the benefit of the public."
