Baruch Dayan, the truth teller: At the Shamir Assaf Harofeh Medical Center, the elder of the residents of Kfar Chabad, Rabbi Yisrael Aharon Neferstek, passed away peacefully today (Sunday), at the age of 93 - one of the first residents of the Chabad capital in Israel.
The late Rabbi Z"l was born in 1932 in the town of Szdlitz, Poland, to his father, Rabbi Reuven Dober Neprestek, a graduate of the Tomchei Temimim Yeshiva in Warsaw, and to his mother, Chaya Gitel, may God have mercy on him.
With the outbreak of World War II, the family fled to Russia, where - under the terror of the Soviet regime - he studied Torah underground. The mother of the family, Chaya Gitel, died of starvation during the war.
Being a Polish national, he and his family received an exit visa to Poland at the end of World War II as part of the agreement signed between the Russian government and the Polish government.
Upon leaving Russia, the family members migrated, like many Chabad families who left Russia in the 'Great Escape,' and arrived at the displaced persons camp in Pöcking, Germany, where he entered the local 'Tomchei Temimim' yeshiva. He later studied at the Chabad yeshiva in Paris and Tel Aviv.
Upon reaching his retirement, he established his home with his wife, Mrs. Batya Deborah, daughter of the late Rabbi Abba Levin - and the couple settled in Kfar Chabad - the Hasidic village established in 1959. His wife passed away on the 1st of Kislev, 1961.
For many years he served as a member of the village committee and worked hard for its development.
He set times for Torah and was devoted for many years to the "holy works" of the Lubavitcher Rebbe zt"l.
He left behind a seed blessed by God, sons and daughters, and hundreds of descendants, many of whom serve as Chabad emissaries throughout the world and as educators.
His sons: Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Neferstek of Kfar Chabad, Rabbi Baruch Neferstek of Crown Heights, Rabbi Shlomo Neferstek of Crown Heights, his daughter Mrs. Leah Moskowitz - wife of Rabbi David Moshe Moskowitz of Chicago, Mrs. Yehudit Lasker - wife of Rabbi Yosef Lasker, and Mrs. Stree Green.
His daughter Chaya Gitel Burgan, a.h., of Kfar Chabad, wife of the late Rabbi Yonatan Burgan, passed away in Tammuz 5883.
He is also survived by his siblings: Rabbi Yechiel Neferstek of Kfar Chabad, Rabbi Yechezkel Neferstek of Paris, Mrs. Hania Weinberg of Vancouver and Mrs. Golda Galvinsky of Crown Heights. His brother, the influential Rabbi Rabbi Moshe Neferstek, passed away in 2016.
His funeral will leave tonight, the end of the 17th of Tammuz, at 9:30 PM from his home at 15 Admor Hakken Street in Kfar Chabad to the 'Ohel Minyan of the Old Rebbe', from there to the central synagogue - towards the 'Shamgar' funeral home.
Departure from Shamgar at 11:30 PM to the Chabad plot on Har Hamenuchot, where he will be buried.
The family will sit 'sheva' at the deceased's home, 15 Old Rebbe Street, Kfar Chabad.
