Avraham Azulai, 25, a resident of the Shaked Farm in the Yitzhar Hills, was killed while working on an engineering tool in Gaza, three months after his wedding.

Initial investigation indicates that during the activity of IDF forces in Khan Yunis, terrorists who emerged from underground attacked an IDF force. During the attack, the terrorists attempted to kidnap Avraham, who served as a excavator operator. He struggled with them and the terrorists shot and killed him.

Security forces in the area opened fire on the terrorists, hitting several terrorists and thwarting the kidnapping.

He is survived by his wife, parents and siblings. Avraham is the son of Yitzhak and Yafat Azulai from the Elazar settlement in the Gush Etzion.

Azulai, the third martyr from Yitzhar in the 'Iron Swords' War. He was one of dozens of Yitzhar residents who came to assist the IDF in the Gaza Strip by operating heavy engineering equipment.

The head of the Samaria Regional Council, Yossi Dagan, paid tribute to him: "Avraham the 14th, was a hero, a true pioneer, one of the builders of the hills and farms, worked in training and development of farms and road-breaking in Samaria, devoted entirely to the settlement of the Land of Israel and the defense of the Land of Israel. He arrived in Samaria as a teenager to build Samaria and was one of the best of our sons who built the hills with courage and love. Avraham is the 31st fallen in the War of the Iron Swords in the council, he gave his life for the people and the land, when he did what he loved and believed in - building the land. The family of the Samaria Regional Council will accompany the beloved Ruth, with whatever she needs. The settlement family in Samaria and the entire Yitzhar community mourn and embrace the Azulai and Yogev families.".

Head of the Binyamin Council Yisrael Gantz wrote: "In this difficult time, we hug Ruth Azulai (Yogev), an employee of the Binyamin Community Center, on the fall of her new husband Avraham. Avraham worked and fought as a bomb-making operator, destroyed a multitude of evil and fiercely defended the people of Israel. At noon, he fell from fire from terrorists in the Gaza Strip. Dear Ruth, the Binyamin Council family and the community center are with you.".

The chairman of the Yitzhar settlement committee, Golan Avgi, mourned him with sorrow: "Avraham was a pioneer. And he established a Hebrew work business. He enlisted in the reserves along with a large group of friends from the Yitzhar settlement, and they operated in the IDF in Gaza. I knew him as a man with a sense of humor, talented, with good qualities and was well-liked by everyone, everyone who knew him and all his friends.".

As mentioned, Azulai Y.D. is the third person from the town of Yitzhar to fall in the war. About a year and a half ago, the fighter Sergeant Jonathan Luber Y.D. fell in battle in the southern Gaza Strip, and about eight months ago, the fighter Sergeant Shneur Zalman Cohen Y.D. fell in the northern Gaza Strip.
