The coalition crisis: The United Torah Judaism faction announced today (Monday) that it will not participate in the coalition votes - until the draft conscription law is presented.
The statement issued by the faction reads: "In light of the fact that the draft conscription law has not been introduced to this moment, contrary to the commitments made, the United Torah Judaism faction announces that it will not vote with the coalition until the draft law is presented.".
Shortly afterwards, the Shas faction announced that it would also boycott the votes in the plenum.
Following the boycott by the ultra-Orthodox parties, and the clarification that they cannot be trusted with votes as long as the delay in passing the conscription law continues, the coalition removed all laws from the Knesset plenary agenda, including the vote on the appointment of MK Yisrael Eichler to the position of Minister of Construction and Housing - for fear that they would not pass.
This is the first time in the current crisis that even bills in advanced readings are not up for a vote due to the coalition crisis with the ultra-Orthodox parties.
At the same time, an official notification was sent to coalition members that they were exempt from voting today.
However, it was reported that a new announcement will be issued later this week, which may indicate a possible change in the situation in the coming days.
The office of the chairman of the Foreign Affairs and Security Committee, MK Yuli Edelstein, estimates that the draft law will be placed on the Knesset table in the coming days.
