The arrival of the new giraffe is an important milestone for the park, as the herd of giraffes in the desert now numbers 4 individuals.
Tofi, the new male giraffe, joined the existing giraffe family at Debarium: 7-year-old Toy, her sister Twigga, 5, and the baby Trio, who was born a year ago to mother Toy.
Moving a giraffe is a very complex operation, accompanied by many risks and complications. Therefore, in order to prevent unnecessary risks, the caretakers of the Biblical Zoo, from which he was transferred, worked for 8 months on rigorous training for him. They taught him to enter the transfer crate and remain inside it without pressure, thus ensuring his safety during the journey to his new home.
On the long-awaited transfer day, Tofi easily and willingly entered the transfer box.
Upon his arrival at the Medbrium, he initially remained separated from the other giraffes in the park - Trio, Toy, and Twigga, but immediately showed great curiosity towards them.
After this short adaptation period, Toffee the giraffe successfully joined the herd. Trio in particular showed great interest in Toffee and stayed close to him throughout the day, indicating a quick, smooth and successful integration.
