An investigation published today (Friday) on Channel 12 reveals a broad picture of the construction and settlement boom in Judea and Samaria during the current government's term - which began in early 2023.
According to published data, in the past year and a half there has been a sharp increase in the scope of construction, the announcement of new settlements, and the establishment of illegal outposts - a process that was carried out, according to the report, as part of a declared policy to strengthen the Jewish hold on the territory.
These are the data:
• Since the current government came to power in early 2023, no fewer than 50 new settlements have been declared in Judea and Samaria in 4 waves. Until the current government, there were 128 recognized settlements in Judea and Samaria, while today there are 178 - a jump of 40% in the tenure of just one government.
• 19 of the newly recognized settlements already exist on the ground, 7 more are currently grazing farms, 14 are existing neighborhoods in existing settlements, and 10 settlements are still "on paper" only.
• The new settlements are scattered throughout Judea and Samaria - 17 of them in Binyamin, 13 in Samaria, 6 in Mount Hebron, 6 in Gush Etzion, 5 in the Jordan Valley and 3 in the Dead Sea Scrolls Council.
• In the field of construction: Only in 2025 did the number of housing units reach a peak of 19,389. Since the beginning of the current government's term, a total of 41,709 housing units have been promoted - more than in the entire period between 2017 and 2022 combined.
• Alongside legal construction, there has been a sharp increase in the establishment of illegal outposts: at the end of 2024, 214 illegal outposts were documented, 66 of which were established during the war. This is an increase of almost 300% compared to the two years preceding the current government. Most of the outposts are grazing farms, whose areas currently reach approximately 787 square kilometers.
• In the area of enforcement, the data indicate a significant gap: in the past two years, 1,238 illegal Palestinian structures have been demolished - an increase of 491% compared to the same period. In contrast, the number of Jewish structures demolished was only 84 - a sharp decrease compared to the past.
• During the current term, the announcement of approximately 24,000 dunams of state land in the Jordan Valley was completed.
• According to data from the Yesha Council, the increase in construction comes alongside population growth: from 2013 to 2023, the population of Judea and Samaria and the Jordan Valley grew by 381% - from 374 thousand residents to 517 thousand residents.
