According to the report this evening (Wednesday) on Channel 15, the suspicions against him are contact with a foreign agent and accepting a bribe.

About a month and a half ago, he gave testimony regarding the affair.

According to the suspicion, a company owned by Mordechai transferred hundreds of thousands of shekels worth of funds throughout 2024 to Yonatan Urich, the Prime Minister's advisor, for the benefit of a campaign for Qatar.

Mordechai's partner in the company, a former senior Mossad official, was also questioned with a warning on suspicion of contact with a foreign agent and other offenses.

Next week, police investigators will question Jay Potlik, who serves as a sort of lobbyist for Qatar, with a warning.

Maj. Gen. (res.) Mordechai, 61, retired from the IDF in 2018 after serving, among other things, as Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories, Head of the Civil Administration, and IDF Spokesperson.

Mordechai, who was involved in business with Qatar, is considered a figure with strong ties to the emirate. During the war, he played a central role in Major General Nitzan Alon's hostage management.

The IDF Spokesperson's Office reported that Mordechai's ties with the Arab world, and in particular with Qatar, have been known to his commanders since the beginning of the war, including due disclosure regarding this.

It was also noted that since the beginning of the war, Mordechai was fully committed to the military effort at the hostage command, and that his contribution was significant and critical.

""The work of Maj. Gen. (res.) Mordechai, who was always brave and honest, contributed greatly to the war effort," the IDF said. "The IDF thanks him for his investment and expects him to continue his important contribution.".

NOVARD said in response to Channel 13: "Novard has been working for years with various countries in Asia, Africa and the Middle East, officially, publicly and completely legally.

""Since October 7, Polly Mordechai has been drafted into the reserves to promote the return of the kidnapped. He is not involved in any business activity and there is a complete separation between Novard's activities in and between Middle Eastern countries.".
