Kahane, who joined the party along with former Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot - who announced yesterday that he was retiring - informed Benny Gantz of his retirement and resignation from the Knesset.
Sources involved in the matter said that the Knesset member resigned on the recommendation of Naftali Bennett.
In November 2024, it was first reported in Kan News that Kahane had held a secret meeting with Naftali Bennett and lawyer Shlomo Filber. The three discussed Bennett's return to politics and the possibility of appealing to right-wing voters - after the formation of the change government and the joint sitting with the Ra'am party.
In May, Bennett announced the registration of his new party, called "Bennett 2026.".
