After more than a year and a half: The government approved today (Sunday) in a telephone referendum the return of residents of the encirclement to their homes.

According to the decision, residents of kibbutzim and moshavim that were affected on October 7 are required to end their stay in the evacuation areas within a month - and return to their homes.

This is due to the IDF and the Ministry of Defense's determination that "there is no security impediment" to living in the envelope.

Also, when the residents return to the communities, the funding provided to them for their stay in reception facilities will be discontinued.

The government decision that approved the lifting of the security blockade refers to 12 localities: Be'eri, Kfar Gaza, Nir Oz, Sufa, Nativ Ha'esra, Nir Yitzhak, Kerem Shalom, Ein Hashlosha, Nirim, Nahal Oz, Kissufim and Holit.

The Tekuma administration, which is responsible for the reconstruction of the communities affected by the October 7 massacre, announced that renovation work in the communities of Kerem Shalom, Reim, Nirim and Ein Hashlosha has been completed and residents will be able to return to their homes starting July 1.

The communities of Sufa, Nir Yitzhak, and Netiv Ha'esra will also be able to return on this date.

In August, the renovation work in Nahal Oz is expected to be completed and residents will be able to return to their homes. In November 2025, work is expected to be completed in Kibbutz Kissufim, and during 2026, the kibbutzims of Hulit, Kfar Gaza, and Bari are expected to return to their homes.
