Yaakov Wider, a Likud member of the Bnei Brak City Council, harshly attacked Mayor Hanoch Seibert today (Thursday), after a discussion held in the City Council.
Seibert, who landed from New York, this morning toured the destruction site in the Pardes Katz neighborhood, following the missile that hit the Gesherim school of the Ohel Sarah educational organization - and killed 75-year-old resident of the city, Avraham Cohen, who was killed as a result of the damage to a nearby building.
Wieder attacked: "The mayor landed from abroad, arrived only to have his picture taken - and disappeared without saying a word. Shame.""
After the discussion, Wider issued a scathing statement in which he claimed: "I have raised a series of serious failures that continue to harm the residents of Bnei Brak - precisely in the midst of a sensitive security period":
???? Public shelters are locked and unmaintained
???? Lack of assistance for the evacuation and repair of defective private shelters
???? Negligent handling - and sometimes complete disregard - of complaints from residents whose homes were damaged
???? There is no human or municipal response to the hardships on the ground
???? Administrative anarchy in the municipality instead of functioning leadership
???? Ignoring the danger of the Shabachim in the city during this sensitive period
???? Lack of a uniform policy for evacuees to stay in hotels according to a clear key
???? Lack of policy for evacuating evacuees from staying in hotels
???? Lack of preparation for the day after – for those who lost their homes
???? Ignoring aid agencies and volunteers who sought to help
???? Failure in preparing educational institutions for the return to school
???? And especially - ego struggles and schemes in the mayor's office that harm the little citizen.
Wieder concluded: "I pledge to ensure that the conclusions reached in this discussion will not remain just talk – but will become actions. The residents come first.""
