US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee today (Monday) attacked the American media with unprecedented severity over its coverage of the war in Gaza.
""They are collaborators with Hamas and this is what leads to attacks in the US," the ambassador claimed.
According to Huckabee, the way the American media covers the conflict in the Middle East contributed to the climate that led to the murder of two Israeli embassy employees in Washington and the attack in which pro-Israel protesters were injured in Colorado.
Huckabee wrote in his statement: "Reckless and irresponsible reporting by major media outlets in the United States is contributing to the anti-Semitic climate that led to the murder of two young men at an Israeli embassy event and the attempted murder of protesters in Colorado.".
The ambassador accused the media of echoing Hamas's words: "Without verification from any source other than Hamas and its collaborators, the New York Times, CNN, and AP reported that several people seeking to receive humanitarian food boxes from the Gaza Humanitarian Fund were shot or killed by the Israeli Defense Forces. These reports were false. Drone footage and first-hand reports clearly showed that there were no injuries, no deaths, no shooting, no chaos.
""It is Hamas that continues to terrorize and intimidate those seeking food assistance. The sole source of these misleading, exaggerated, and completely fabricated stories came from sources within Hamas, designed to fan the flames of anti-Semitic hatred, which arguably contributes to violence against Jews in the United States.".
He slammed the US media: "Media sources who willingly repeat these despicable accusations should retract their fake news stories, apologize, and commit to reporting actual facts instead of engaging in dangerous propaganda that aids the terrorist organization Hamas, as it continues to hold innocent hostages for over 600 days after slaughtering more than 1,200 people on October 7.".
He said, "GHF’s efforts have resulted in over 5 million meals for civilians without incident. The fact that the New York Times, AP, and CNN are part of a false narrative fueled by Hamas is outrageous. This represents more than just negligent journalism. They are fueling and inciting violence against innocent people in the United States.
""We demand an immediate return to the lies and appeal to all media sources to act professionally and objectively to cover real events instead of being partners in terrorism by blindly following Hamas messages.".
