Minister of Jerusalem and Jewish Tradition, Meir Porush, has directed that, as part of the five-year plan to strengthen and position the Old City Basin area in Jerusalem, an additional 17 million shekels be allocated for the restored construction of the Tiferet Yisrael synagogue, also known as "Rabbi Nissan Bek Shul," which was destroyed by the Jordanians in the War of Independence - with the goal of bringing it to completion soon.

This is in addition to the 4 million shekels that the Ministry of Jerusalem and Jewish Tradition will soon transfer as part of a government decision made on Jerusalem Day last year to pool additional budgets for the five-year plan, which includes an additional budget from the Ministry of Defense, at the request of then-Defense Minister Yoav Galant, who promoted the construction of the synagogue in his role as Minister of Housing.
Minister Porush recently toured the restoration site of the Tiferet Yisrael synagogue several times, in order to closely monitor the pace of progress towards completing the project and opening it to the general public.
During the tours and working meetings on the subject, Minister Porush was updated on the progress of the work and the difficulties that had accumulated since the outbreak of the 'Iron Swords' War, following the restrictions on the entry of Palestinian workers into Israel, and instructed to locate a Jewish workforce as soon as possible to complete the work - as was indeed done.

The Minister of Jerusalem and Jewish Tradition, who is in charge of the Society for the Restoration and Development of the Jewish Quarter, has instructed to accelerate the work in order to complete the project as soon as possible. According to estimates, the goal for completing the project is several months, with the expectation that as early as the holiday of Sukkot 5785, we will be able to pray in the place, after the coming of our righteous Messiah.
Minister Meir Porush: "The restoration of the Tiferet Yisrael Synagogue (Rabbi Nissan Bek Shul), which was destroyed by the Jordanians in the War of Independence, is in my opinion a flagship project within the framework of our mission to strengthen and position the Old City Basin area in Jerusalem. Seeing the magnificent domes of the 'Hurva' Synagogue and the 'Tiferet Yisrael' Synagogue adorning the Jerusalem skyline is an image that moves every Jew with a warm heart for the Holy City.".
