Media personality Yaakov Bardugo, a commentator on Channel 14 and presenter on Gali Israel radio, said this evening (Wednesday) that he is considering the possibility of retiring from the world of media.
In an interview he gave this evening (Wednesday) to Yaakov Grodka on 'Kol Berama' radio, Bardugo said: "You touched on a sensitive point, this has been on my mind for a very long time. I do this on a mission, it's not my livelihood - thank God I don't make a living from the media world, and therefore I am free from pressure.".
He added: "The high intensity I have been giving in recent years is to preserve the right-wing government and Netanyahu's government, I do not deny that. I am here for the people on the right.".
He revealed: "I've been thinking lately, maybe it's time to pass the baton to others. Maybe. I've been thinking about it a lot, especially lately, and maybe I'll pass the baton to someone else.".
He later expressed firm support for the appointment of Major General David Zini as head of the Shin Bet, clarifying that this is a crucial step for the government's continued functioning: "Major General David Zini will be appointed head of the Shin Bet. If he is not appointed, there is no point in the government. There will be no conscription law, there will be no war, and there will be no attack on Iran. Everything depends on him. The government must fire the legal advisor to the government."”
Regarding the coalition crisis surrounding the draft law, Bardugo warned of a possible dissolution of the government, and delivered a sharp message to representatives of the Haredi public: “I don’t see the horizon of the Haredi when the next campaign is conducted around the draft law. I don’t see them doing such a hasty act. Those whose education is their art – committed to studying – should receive increased support. And those who aren’t – should enlist. The Haredi need to understand that the worldview has changed since October 7.”
On the Iranian nuclear issue, Bardugo emphasized that the window of opportunity for action is closing: “The window of opportunity for a decision on the Iranian nuclear issue is very close. We need to keep our finger on the pulse, whether Trump reaches an agreement that satisfies Israel or not. I think that even if this is the government’s last option, action will be needed to destroy the Iranian nuclear program.”
