The Arabic-language Sky News network reported this morning (Monday) that the prevailing assessment is that US President Donald Trump will declare a ceasefire in Gaza within a few days - and that his declaration of the ceasefire will be part of a deal to release Israeli hostages.

The report has no confirmation from another source and should be taken with limited liability.

Earlier, the Egyptian channel Al-Ghad, broadcasting from Cairo, reported on developments in talks to release the hostages, noting that the expected ceasefire agreement will last at least 60 days in exchange for the release of 10 Israeli hostages and the handover of 16 bodies.

Al-Mayadeen Channel also reported that Israel and Hamas are considering a new proposal for a deal.

Israeli officials rejected the new outline outright. "The proposal was submitted last night and is unacceptable," they said.

According to the report, five hostages will be released alive on the first day of the agreement and another five on the 60th day of the agreement. It was also reported that 16 bodies of hostages will be released according to a schedule to be agreed upon, in a way that will allow Hamas to locate the bodies of kidnapped civilians that it supposedly does not know where they were buried.

It was also reported that Hamas is demanding in return the release of all terrorists from the Gaza Strip who were imprisoned in Israel before and after the October 7 massacre.

United States President Donald Trump commented tonight on the fighting in the Gaza Strip and said: "We've spoken to the Israelis. We want to see if we can end this whole situation as soon as possible?""
