The Ministry of Transportation in a giant deployment: The public transportation system and ways to get to Meron have been published ahead of the Lag BaOmer celebration, which will take place on Thursday-Friday - 17-18 Iyar 5785 (15-16/05/2026).

For many months, the Ministry of Transportation and the National Public Transportation Authority have been preparing for Operation Meron to manage the public transportation system, the access routes, and the arrangements for entry and stay on Mount Meron, with the aim of enabling safe and orderly arrival at the mountain as quickly and efficiently as possible, and to return safely.

• As in previous years, entry to Meron at any age is conditional on purchasing a ticket in advance only. The ticket serves as confirmation of stay on the mountain - for up to 5 hours only, depending on the time indicated on it.

• Sale opening date: Monday, 7th of Iyar (5.5), in the afternoon, until the following Monday, 12th of Iyar (12.5).

• Tickets can be purchased On site - and at the call center number *2111.

• The National Public Transportation Authority notes that in order to prevent desecration of Shabbat this year, buses from Miron to all parts of the country - except for the northern region - will depart only until 1:00 PM.

Three arrival options exist this year as well:

Public transportation – Travel by bus or train from across the country directly from Meron, while choosing an exact departure location and boarding time.

Private buses – Groups, institutions and communities will arrive at the Kahal parking lot, and from there they will continue on shuttles by reservation in advance.

Private car – Parking in the Elifelet parking lot only, with round-trip shuttles by reservation in advance, with tickets required for each passenger in the vehicle at the entrance to the parking lot.

Return from Meron – by type of arrival:

Parking lot shuttles: Each passenger will be returned in the same manner and on the same line according to the route they arrived on.

Train – new this year: Arrival from a variety of destinations on designated trains. Passengers who arrived by public bus will also be able to return via the Karmiel train, without the need for prior arrangement, but upon presentation of the return ticket.

Special trains will operate throughout the night. – To destinations in the south of the country and Beit Shemesh, with a stop in Savidor, from where passengers will be transferred by special shuttles to Bnei Brak, to the neighborhoods of Beit Shemesh and Beitar Illit.

• Please note: On Friday, Iyar 18th – the last trip will depart at 1:00 PM to destinations throughout the country except for the northern destinations (Safed and Kahal and Elifelet parking lots until 3:30 PM).

The Ministry of Transportation reminds that entry to Meron will only be permitted via an authorized shuttle with a valid ticket. Any travel arrangement that is not coordinated and approved will not be recognized and will not be permitted.
