For the first time in US history: An American state has determined by law that it is no longer the "West Bank" - only "Judea and Samaria.".
A law recently passed in Arkansas states that in every official document issued by the state, only the term historical-biblical will be used.
The legislation approved in the state of Arkansas is a step up in the joint activity of Friends of Israel and the Samaria Regional Council in the US, and is a direct continuation of the lobby's bill, which was established about six months ago in Congress in Washington, led by Congresswoman Claudia Tenney, and the head of the Samaria Council, Yossi Dagan.
The lobby, which includes more than 20 members of Congress, aims to work to strengthen sovereignty and bring sovereignty to Judea and Samaria. As a first step, it is promoting the official bill that prohibits the use of official terms with the words "West Bank" and mandates the use of the words "Judea and Samaria.".
The first step was taken when the chairman of the Congressional Foreign Affairs Committee, Brian Mast, announced that the Foreign Affairs Committee would henceforth use the words: "Judea and Samaria.".
Now comes another step up: the state of Arkansas has passed the law, making it the first state to do so. The Samaria Regional Council says: "Other states will follow suit.".
The move came to fruition after months of face-to-face and Zoom meetings in Washington and Samaria, conducted by Council Chairman Yossi Dagan and the Samaria Regional Council's external relations team, along with Arkansas Legislature member Mindy McClendon, the friend of Samaria who initiated the law.
About a week ago, the bill passed the Arkansas state legislature, and last night Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders, daughter of US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, signed the bill into law, and it now goes into effect.
Samaria Council Head Yossi Dagan held a Zoom call with House of Representatives member Mindy McClendon, thanked her and said:
""This is a historic event and the beginning of a global correction of moral truth. This is not just an issue of formulation – but of national identity and recognition of the righteousness of the path. I believe that such a move, which begins at the state level, will ultimately lead to broad recognition of our right to the entire land.""
According to McClendon, the term "West Bank" is an artificial product of a political move that sought to erase the historical connection of the Jewish people to the Land of Israel: "Calling the area 'West Bank' is not only historically inaccurate - it is part of a deliberate effort to erase the connection of the Jewish people to the land of their ancestors," she said. "This territory is at the heart of a broader struggle for Judeo-Christian identity and the historical truth that we are committed to preserving.""
