Ahead of the Rashbi's celebration on Lag BaOmer in Meron: Today (Sunday), a special preparation meeting was held, headed by Deputy Minister of Transportation Uri Maklev, and Head of the Public Transportation Authority Idan Mualem.

The meeting was attended by all public transportation operators, senior officials from the Ministry of Transportation, representatives from the Ministry of Jerusalem and Jewish Tradition, senior officials from the Israel Police, MDA, production and logistics companies, the advisor to the Haredi sector at the Ministry of Transportation, Rabbi Shlomo Rosenstein, and a number of professional figures.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister Maklev and Authority Head Moalem were presented with the extensive preparations that have been made in recent months, which are intended to ensure optimal operation of public transportation during the days of celebration, while maintaining safety, order, and full accessibility for tens of thousands of immigrants to Meron - all of this in light of the special challenges this year, including the proximity of Shabbat Eve and the operation of an innovative pilot for using the train for mass transportation.

Deputy Minister Maklev emphasized: "The success of the public transportation system is a basic condition for the success of the entire celebration. Preparations must be meticulous down to the smallest detail, with full cooperation between all the parties responsible for transportation, security, and production."

During the discussion, the operating plans for transportation lines from all over the country, parking and transportation arrangements, management of service centers and real-time control, and field coordination with rescue and enforcement agencies were reviewed, in order to enable a continuous and safe flow of passengers.

Special emphasis was placed on managing departure and return times to maintain the sanctity of Shabbat.

At the end of the discussion, it was agreed to increase exercises and coordination between all the bodies involved, while maintaining a coordinated plan of action and maintaining continuous contact until the end of the festivities.

Deputy Minister Maklev called on all parties to continue their heightened preparedness "in the spirit of mission and public responsibility, with the goal of bringing the public safely and orderly to Meron and back."
