Maran HaGarad Lando, who was hospitalized yesterday morning at the 'Ma'eni Hayeshua' medical center after stumbling during the night at his home - underwent surgery this morning (Friday) in the orthopedic department at the medical center.
An update from his home stated that this was a planned surgery that was performed on the recommendation of doctors. The surgery was performed by a team led by Dr. Itai Holzer, director of the orthopedic department at Mainai Hayeshua.
Towards 9:30, it was reported that "by the abundant grace of God, the surgery was successfully completed. Maran left the operating room and is now in the recovery room.".
His associates said that the yeshiva head is expected to recover in the coming days.
Last night, an update was provided that "during the evening, another consultation was held by the orthopedic department team at Mayanei Hayeshua Hospital with medical consultant Elimelech Pirer, at the end of which it was decided that Maran would remain in the hospital for further monitoring." It was also reported that "his condition is good and he has returned to his study arrangements in the hospital's hospitalization room" and that another consultation will be held tomorrow morning.".
The family of the yeshiva head called on the public to "continue to pray for the complete recovery of Maran Rabbi Ephraim Dov ben Deborah of Raffou Shlomo.".
The 95-year-old Rabbi Lando fell at his home on Rabbi Sher Street in the Slobodka Yeshiva Hill in Bnei Brak and has been suffering from severe pain ever since. Following the fall, the Rosh Yeshiva did not attend the Shacharit prayer at the yeshiva. The Rosh Yeshiva underwent a series of tests and imaging at the medical center, and he remained for medical monitoring and treatment.
