Terrorist Iyad Jardat, who was sentenced to life in prison for activating the terrorists who carried out the attack in Moshav Gadish in which the settlement's security coordinator, Eli Biton, was murdered in 2003, was released in the latest deal.
In an interview conducted with him last month, the Islamic Jihad terrorist revealed outrageous details about life in an Israeli prison before Minister Ben Gvir took over as Minister of National Security, claiming that the conditions of imprisonment were "like a summer camp.".
The remarks were brought by Channel 14 reporter Ahikam Himelfarb.
On a Palestinian Authority podcast, terrorist Jardat was asked what conditions were like before October 7th - and he replied: "Honestly, there was respect, there were understandings.".
According to him, "Ben Gvir said that these were minors, maybe there will be someone who will say that this is Ben Gvir's exaggeration. Whoever wants to get angry - let them get angry, but the prisons really were like summer camps.".
He added: "Everything was available. The relationship with the Prison Service, officers, administrators, police. It was as if we were one family," he chuckled.
Minister Ben-Gvir's entourage notes that as part of the prison policy, deposits were stopped, the canteens were closed, shower and yard hours were reduced, and the food menu was changed.
In addition, the "spokesperson" status of terrorists in prisons was abolished, and degree studies and dental treatments were canceled.
The terrorist comes from the village of A-Sila Al-Harathiya near Jenin, to which he returned after his liberation. In footage released immediately after his release at the beginning of the year, he is seen wrapping himself in a Hamas flag.
In one interview, when asked to convey a message to his fellow terrorists who carried out the October 7 massacre, he said: "You can't describe them in words. They are brothers who lived with us. When they were liberated, they didn't forget us." He added: "We knew for sure that they wouldn't forget us. We never stopped believing in them. Never. Never.".
