
A difficult tragedy: In a fatal car accident that occurred this evening (Thursday) between two vehicles on Highway 8900 near Safed, the late Rabbi Shmuel Baruch Habib, a Chabad Hasidic resident of Safed, was killed, and two adults and an infant were seriously and moderately injured.
The late, z"l, dedicated his life to Kirov activities and was one of the most prominent activists in the "Chabad operations" in the northern kibbutzim.
He left behind his wife Dina and a baby - both of whom were injured in an accident and are in need of prayers and God's mercy.
His father is Rabbi Yitzhak Habib of Jerusalem. His brothers are Rabbi Shneur Habib of Elad and Rabbi Mendi Habib of Kfar Chabad.
Rescue forces called to the scene provided initial medical care to the injured and evacuated four injured people to Ziv Medical Center in Safed, including a man in critical condition with multiple systemic injuries while undergoing CPR, his 27-year-old wife in serious condition with head and limb injuries, a man in moderate condition with chest injuries, and an eight-month-old baby in moderate condition with a head injury.
Unfortunately, the critically injured man was pronounced dead at the hospital.
MDA emergency medical technician Hanoch Segal said: "We arrived with multiple forces at the scene of a serious and complex accident involving a man without a pulse and breathing, a woman trapped in a car, and an injured baby. We immediately approached the man who was without a pulse and breathing and suffering from multiple systemic injuries. We began advanced CPR operations while treating his wounds.
""Additional teams that quickly arrived at the scene began providing medical assistance to the other injured who were in serious and moderate condition and assisted in the rescue attempts of the woman who was trapped in the vehicle.".
""All the injured were evacuated in ambulances and MDA intensive care vehicles to the hospital, with one man in critical condition and fighting for his life, a woman in serious condition, and two injured people in moderate condition - including a one-year-old baby.".
Police announced that police officers and traffic accident investigators are at the scene, investigating the circumstances of the accident and directing traffic at the scene.
