United States President Donald Trump announced that he has appointed Yehuda Kaplan as the United States' special envoy to combat anti-Semitism.
The president issued a statement: "Yehuda is a successful businessman and a passionate supporter of the Jewish faith and the rights of his people to live and act freely and without persecution. Against the backdrop of the dangerous rise in anti-Semitism, Yehuda will be the strongest representative for Americans and Jews around the world, promoting peace. Congratulations, Yehuda!".
Yehuda Kaplan, 57, has become famous over the years for a series of events, such as when he volunteered for rescue and evacuation during the brutal terrorist attack on the Twin Towers.
Kaplon serves as president of RussKap Water, a company he co-founded, which specializes in technologies for producing water from air.
Yehuda was born in Kfar Chabad to a couple of 'emissaries' and over the years has been recognized for a variety of volunteer and philanthropic projects for the benefit of those in need.
After Trump's first term as President of the United States, the connection and relationship between the president and Kaplan and his business partner was formed. During the election campaign, Kaplan was responsible for outreach to the Jewish community. Since then, Kaplan has served on several missions for the Trump administration.
Kaplan stated that he sees the appointment as an opportunity to influence how anti-Semitism is dealt with around the world.
The head of the Samaria Regional Council, Yossi Dagan, congratulated Rabbi Yehuda Kaflon upon the US president's announcement of his appointment: "With God's help, we will work together a lot against anti-Semitism and Israel-haters and for the people of Israel and the United States." Dagan said that Kaflon's appointment could bring about historical change and correction: "I congratulate my friend Rabbi Yehuda Kaflon on his important appointment. He is a man of values, imbued with a mission, a true lover of Israel who represents the deep connection between the Jewish communities in the world and the Land of Israel - and in particular Judea and Samaria, the heart of the land of the fathers. His appointment is important news for the entire Jewish world and the fight against anti-Semitism, especially during this sensitive period. Kaflon is a man of truth who is committed to Jewish and Zionist values - such an appointment could bring about global correction.".
Just about two months ago, during one of Rabbi Kaplan's visits to the settlement in Samaria, he delivered an official message to the residents of Samaria: "I would like to say to the residents of Judea and Samaria - many, many people in the United States love you. You are doing a tremendous mission and historical justice as you build Judea and Samaria, the heart of the Land of Israel, the place where our ancestors walked since the days of the Bible, and the home for our children. You are not alone - you have loyal partners here and in the United States, and we support, back you, and love you.".
Dagan replied to him at the time: "This is an important and powerful reinforcement. Today there is more and more understanding that settlement in Judea and Samaria is not just an Israeli issue, but an issue of global significance. The residents of Samaria feel the warm embrace that comes from across the sea, and know that they have strong partners who stand shoulder to shoulder with them. We will continue to build and strengthen the settlement in the heart of the land, to strengthen all of Israel.".
Minister of Jerusalem and Jewish Tradition, Meir Porush: "I congratulate Rabbi Yehuda Kaplan on the occasion of President Trump's announcement of his intention to appoint him as the US administration's special envoy to combat anti-Semitism. This is another very significant appointment by President Trump that expresses his unqualified support for the people of Israel. In this period, when unfortunately anti-Semitism is rising around the world, Rabbi Yehuda has a difficult and important job ahead of him. His success is the success of the Jewish people.".
