For Passover: The Carrefour Israel chain's Mehadrin branches were specially prepared with a series of sales on meat products and wines certified kosher by the Badatz Eda Haredi.
The branches, scattered in Haredi concentrations throughout the country, provide a unique response to the needs of the Haredi public and those who observe kashrut.
"We invest special efforts in our Mehadrin branches," says the Mehadrin department manager at Carrefour. "Every product that hits the shelves undergoes the most rigorous kosher control, while maintaining prices that are affordable for everyone."
Carrefour's Mehadrin branches - located in Jerusalem, Haifa, Elad, Amishav Petah Tikva, Hadera and Beit Shemesh - offer an especially wide variety of fresh meat products under the "La Marche" meat brand, under the supervision of the Haredi Badatz.
Among other things, you can find beef brisket, mock fillet, muscle and shoulder for 2 kg for only 115 NIS, entrecote for 129.90 NIS per kg, and shoulder roast for 89.90 NIS per kg.
"Our meat products arrive fresh every day at the branches, and are carefully monitored throughout the entire supply chain," explains one of the butchers at the branch. "Our customers are looking for not only fancy kosher, but also high-quality, fresh 100% meat, and that's exactly what we provide."
The poultry department also receives special attention, with specials on legs and thighs priced at 3 kg for 100 NIS and chicken schnitzel priced at 3 kg for 120 NIS, all with Rabbi Mahfoud's fancy kosher certification.
Special preparations have also been made in the wine and beverage department, with promotions on grape juice and kosher must for Passover. Taman's one-liter grape juice and must is offered at a price of 6 bottles for only 80 NIS.
"Preparations for Passover at the Mehadrin branches begin months before the holiday," says one of the branch managers. "We work in full coordination with the Badatz Eda Haredi to ensure that all products meet the highest standards of kosher for Passover."
Carrefour management recently signed a chametz sales deed with the rabbis of the Haredi Badatz, in the presence of Michael Luboszitz, the chain's CEO. "This is my pride - the Haredi sector," Luboszitz said at the signing ceremony. "We are investing a lot of resources to ensure that the Haredi public receives the best products with the most exquisite kosher certification."
Carrefour's Mehadrin branches are also characterized by a shopping experience suitable for the needs of the Haredi public, with appropriate signage and separation between different departments. "We put a lot of thought into the design of the branches," says the chain's VP of Operations. "Our goal is to create a convenient shopping experience tailored to the target audience, while adhering to all the rules of halakhic law."
"Our commitment to the Haredi public is long-term," concludes a senior executive at the chain. "The Mehadrin branches are an integral part of Carrefour's strategy in Israel, and we will continue to invest in them and expand them in accordance with the needs of the community."
