The Attorney General's Office: Bring MK Hanin Zoabi to justice

Indictment? The State Attorney recommends that MK Hanin Zoabi be prosecuted for threats and insulting a public servant. This was reported by Hadashot10. The recommendation comes after the police recommended in August that Zoabi be prosecuted, after she insulted and threatened police officers at the Nazareth Magistrate's Court in July. According to the police, Zoabi shouted insults at the police officers, on the grounds that they were Arabs serving in the police force, and said: "Those who collaborate against their own people should be wiped clean," "They should be afraid of the Shabab," and "They should be spat in their faces." Following this, Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein ordered an investigation against Zoabi, and the 433rd Police Department did investigate the affair, collected testimony, and formulated their recommendation that Zoabi be prosecuted. The recommendation is now also being adopted by the Attorney General's Office, and it will be forwarded to Weinstein, who will determine whether an indictment will indeed be filed against the Arab MK.

Earlier, her faction, the Balad faction, continued their protest measures, following Zoabi's removal from Knesset plenary debates for six months, due to her statements that the kidnappers and murderers of the three boys were not terrorists and other scandalous statements.

MK Basel Ghattas read a letter today on behalf of MK Haneen Zoabi, during the discussion of the Committee for the Advancement of the Status of Women and Gender Equality on the subject of promoting women in the security and political discourse.

In the letter, MK Zoabi accused the Knesset members: "Women politicians who incite against me are, in my opinion, especially deserving of reproach because of the hypocrisy of their actions: calling for women's rights and the integration of women, on the one hand, and not hesitating to harm and exclude the only Arab Knesset member, that is, the only Arab women representative in the Israeli Knesset.".

 The committee chair, MK Aliza Lavie - who herself expelled the Balad MK from the committee - responded to MK Ghattas: "The committee also has limits, and the one who decided to expel her following inappropriate behavior is the Ethics Committee.".

MK Lavie added: "This is part of a well-organized campaign. MK Hanin Zoabi once again proves treason and disloyalty to the state. Her delusional words join a racist, anti-Semitic streak of statements and actions that has long characterized her, and which requires an appropriate response from the legislature. Those who act against IDF soldiers and security forces have no place in the Israeli Knesset.".
