The Home Front Command and the IDF spokesman will warn of long-range launches, in an official announcement several minutes before the alarms are activated, to help reduce public panic and, of course, avoid rumors online.
According to a report this evening (Tuesday) on Channel 14, the change is expected to take effect in the next 24 hours.
The recent launches from Yemen, which have led to quite a few rumors online with incorrect details, given the fact that the defense system has the ability to detect between 10 and 12 minutes before the missile reaches the territory of the State of Israel, have raised quite a few requests from citizens requesting more time to organize themselves in order to reach the protected areas safely.
The Home Front Command commander, the IDF spokesperson, the Operations Division, and the Air Force gathered today (Tuesday) for a long discussion of about two hours, at the end of which it was decided to implement the change in the coming 24 hours - within 24 hours.
If a long-range launch is indeed carried out, a message will be distributed to citizens that such a threat has been identified.
