Recently, the Shomerim hotline in Bnei Brak received several reports of break-ins to computer rooms throughout the city, including a break-in to a safe in one of the cases.
Following the reports, the "Guards" volunteers began collecting footage from security cameras, and identified a consistent pattern of action: masked suspects, riding an electric scooter, equipped with advanced burglary tools - who disappear from the scene within minutes of the break-in.
Last night (Sunday), late at night, a report was received of a suspect seen breaking into a computer room. The hotline immediately notified volunteers on the scene, while at the same time a report was received from the informant that the suspect was seen tampering with the safe inside the business.
The 'guards' arrived quickly, identified the suspect who matched the previous recordings - and caught him on the spot, while he was holding a circular saw and carrying out the break-in.
The suspect breaks into the safe using a circular saw.
The suspect, a 15-year-old city resident, was detained by the volunteers until the police arrived.
During his interrogation, he admitted to involvement in additional cases and even provided a list of businesses he planned to break into - some of which had already been broken into, and others were in the planning stages.
The Shomerim organization emphasizes: Public vigilance and cooperation are a central factor in thwarting criminal activity and preventing further damage.
