Four years ago, the couple Avia and Shahar Antman were attacked by Arab rioters after returning from their marriage proposal on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem.
Five offenders were arrested and sentenced to prison terms of 6 to 9 years and payment of financial compensation to the couple.
The Jerusalem District Court determined, as part of a settlement agreement, that one of the terrorists who participated in the lynching would compensate them in the amount of 20,000 shekels.
About six months ago, the court ruled that two additional terrorists who participated in the lynching would compensate the couple in the amount of 30,000 shekels.
In addition, a civil lawsuit for approximately 2 million shekels is currently underway against two additional terrorists from the lynching.
The Antman couple are represented by attorney Haim Bleicher of Honanu.
Attorney Haim Bleicher welcomed the decision: "We are working to ensure that anyone who was involved in harming Jews will pay a price, both criminally and financially. This terrorist, like his friends, was ordered to pay in the criminal proceedings and will now pay additional compensation. The damage to the pockets of terrorists for the benefit of victims of terror adds to deterrence and the security of Israeli citizens.".
The severe lynching occurred during Operation "Guardian of the Walls," after her father proposed to Shahar in Beit Hoshen, overlooking the Temple Mount.
On their way back from the marriage proposal, their vehicle was blocked by Arab rioters who began throwing rocks and stones at them. Her father got out of the vehicle and was beaten, stoned, and even stabbed in the back. Shahar managed to escape and join the police, and his injured father also came to them.
He was taken to Shaare Zedek Hospital, hospitalized, and required prolonged medical treatment – which postponed the couple's engagement party.
