Minister Dudi Amsalem stated today (Wednesday), in an interview on the 'Kalman Lieberman' program on Channel 2, that in his opinion the government should not respect a High Court of Justice decision to prevent the dismissal of Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar - if such a decision is made.
""I think that if the Supreme Court makes such an extreme and unreasonable decision, it should not be respected. In practical terms, the head of the Shin Bet will be removed because it is impossible to work like this.".
He added: "If the High Court keeps him, it is a move that harms the security of the State of Israel. Practically speaking, in such a situation, the head of the Shin Bet will probably continue to receive money, but the prime minister will not work with him because he does not trust him. The result will be a harm to security. The High Court judges are not interested in the good of the state, but in bending the government.".
Amsalem attacked the left's protest against the government: "I am always a man of compromise, on a personal level. But the left and its people do not accept the legitimacy of Likud voters, so this must be decided, there is no compromise on this. I cannot compromise on the fact that I am a second-class citizen. We are a government elected by 64 seats. We were elected to carry out the policy. There is heresy here, this is the truth.".
He claims that Lapid's words that it will lead to a state shutdown are a kind of declaration of civil war. "There is an escalation. You start by blocking roads, damaging property, and the violence becomes legitimate. Yesterday we entered the Knesset and there were those who prevented entry. This is a civil war. The left has no restraints, they raise a phase every time. We continue on our path, we will carry out the reforms, we will change the elite.".
He continued: "The left says, 'This is Ben Gvir's commissioner.' It's forbidden to say that.".
He was asked if criticizing the commissioner is also a civil war - and he replied: "No. When Bar-Lev was the minister, I did not call the police 'the Bar-Lev police.' I do not call the Chief of Staff derogatory terms. I do not call the head of the Shin Bet a 'leftist.' He has many rights in the State of Israel. But when a prime minister does not get along with the head of the Shin Bet, one of them has to go.".
The minister referred to the Qatar-Gate affair and said: "I am not familiar with the details because they are confidential and I do not read gossip." However, he said: "If there is someone who has contact with an enemy country, he certainly needs to be checked. Qatar is not a friendly country to Israel, I have been insisting for years. The 'fifth dimension' is the most serious affair that has happened in Israel from a security perspective. If Qatar wanted, through the Prime Minister's advisor, who is a private person and not a civil servant, only providing a service, to improve its image, if someone behaved incorrectly in the Prime Minister's Office and violated the law - he should be brought to justice.".
Amsalem was also asked about the video in which Minister Yitzhak Goldknopf is seen dancing at a wedding to the song "We Do Not Believe in the Rule of the Infidels." He replied that "he issued a statement later that he does not accept the song.".
According to him, "He accepts that Haredim who do not study in yeshiva will enlist. He is being subjected to physical violence in the Haredi sector. He was attacked by Haredi factions because he expressed that Haredim who do not study Torah will enlist in the IDF.".
""My worldview is that those who study Torah should study Torah. I recognize the value of Torah. Those who don't - should enlist in the IDF or national service. Studying Torah is an iron dome for the people of Israel. There are enough people who don't study Torah and don't go to the IDF, this needs to be addressed, come and recruit them,",
