Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke alongside Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich this afternoon (Tuesday) and congratulated him on approving the state budget.
Netanyahu said: "As Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, I passed about twenty budgets. But I didn't do one thing - I didn't pass five budgets in two years.".
The Prime Minister added: "Our enemies wished for the budget to fall because they wanted to see the government fall.".
Earlier, the Knesset plenum approved the state budget for 2025 in second and third readings, which will amount to approximately 619 billion NIS.
66 Knesset members voted in favor of the budget while 52 lawmakers opposed it.
The defense budget will be approximately 110 billion NIS, the Ministry of Education budget approximately 92 billion NIS, and the Ministry of Health budget approximately 60 billion NIS. The budget also includes expanding the envelope for reserve soldiers and reconstruction and development budgets for the northern and southern regions.
