Media personality Israel Frei was questioned today (Wednesday) with a warning at Tel Aviv police headquarters, on suspicion of incitement to terrorism, for a post he wrote on Twitter in July - which sparked great outrage and led to the opening of an investigation.
In a post published by Fry, which often causes uproar, it was written: "A Palestinian who attacks an IDF soldier or a settler. In the apartheid territories, he is not a terrorist. And this is not an attack. He is a hero who fights against an oppressor for justice, liberation and freedom. The real chaplain is actually in Jenin."
The police statement said that the Tel Aviv District Fraud Unit has opened an investigation on suspicion of incitement to terrorism, regarding publications by a media person on a social network.
"As part of the investigation approved by the State Attorney's Office, the suspect was questioned this morning under a warning on suspicion of incitement to terrorism under Section 24 of the Combating Terrorism Law of 2016. After giving his version, he was released unconditionally."
In a video posted on his Twitter account outside the police station, Fry said: "I am here today for one reason - because those in power do not want us to see or know. They want the nationalist discourse and the fascist atmosphere and the narrative of righteousness and victim exclusivity to continue to be their fuel for committing atrocities."
It should be noted that this is not the first time that Fry has been questioned with a warning for his tweets, on suspicion of incitement to terrorism.
Shai Glick, CEO of Bnei Sakhnin, said in a statement: "The Bnei Sakhnin poster is waiting for Fry. Just as the inciting poster Said Hasnein was arrested and an indictment was filed against him, there is no doubt that in this case too it is immediately obligatory to file an indictment and demand detention until the end of the proceedings."
"Words can kill. Anyone who writes publicly that killing babies, women, and the elderly is heroic if they are settlers is, for all intents and purposes, incitement to murder!"
