Police officers from the Negev region of the Southern District rescued a lion cub and two monkeys that were found in the Bedouin diaspora during a nighttime operation.

In recent days, a total of four monkeys and a lion cub were transferred to the Israel Nature and Parks Authority for further treatment and medical examinations.

The investigation was opened on Wednesday following footage circulated on social media showing two suspects holding a monkey and a lion cub in a vehicle. In the evening of that day, police from Segev Shalom police station located the monkey in the town of Bir Hadag.

Through operational activity and intelligence guidance by detectives from Segev Shalom Station, and in cooperation with South National Guard fighters, the lion cub was located in the area within the boundaries of the Bir Hadaj settlement. The monkey was located in an abandoned hut.

At the same time, detective teams from the Negev Police Department and the Towns Station located another monkey inside a school in the Tel Sheva community. Later, detectives from the Be'er Sheva Station located another monkey in the grounds of the Be'er Sheva Prison.

All of the animals were safely taken to police stations and handed over to Israel Nature and Parks Authority inspectors. They will be transferred to a protected shelter for treatment and medical examinations.
