""Democrats? Anarchists": Katz rejected Labor's request to change its name

The chairman of the Knesset committee, MK Ofir Katz, rejected this morning (Tuesday) the request of the Labor faction to change its name to the "Democrats" party. Five Stars: A Passover vacation like never before in the ultra-Orthodox sector כץ אמר: "מי שמנסים להפיל ממשלה נבחרת באלימות, בקריאה למרי ולמצור על הכנסת - הם הכל חוץ מדמוקרטים". הוא הוסיף ו'עקץ': "יאיר גולן לא מזהה נכון את התהליך אם הוא חושב שנאשר לו את הבקשה. ממליץ לכם לשנות את השם למפלגת האנרכיסטים ואז נאשר בשמחה". הגשת הבקשה לשינוי השם היא חלק מתהליך ארוך שבו מפלגת העבודה, אחת המפלגות ההיסטוריות בישראל, איבדה בהדרגה את מעמדה. האיחוד עם מפלגת מרצ בחודש יוני 2024, שהוליד את השם 'הדמוקרטים' בהובלת יאיר גולן, סימן את הדעיכה הסופית של השם 'העבודה' כמותג פוליטי עצמאי. כעת אלה פירפורי גסיסה, לפני שמפלגת 'העבודה' עוברת מן העולם.
