
Fighters from the missile ship fleet of the Naval Forces, the Directorate for Research and Development of Weapons and Technological Infrastructure at the Ministry of Defense and the Israel Aerospace Industries, successfully completed an operational firing test to preserve and improve firing capabilities of the 'Gabriel 5' sea-to-sea missile.

As part of the test, a missile was launched at a vessel that simulated an enemy ship.
The system successfully carried out detection and firing processes, simulating a real situation. This capability constitutes a significant component of the Navy's attack array, to maintain Israel's naval superiority. The success of the current test strengthens the Navy's combat capabilities, and improves its readiness to deal with operational challenges.
Head of the Research and Development Unit, Brigadier General Yehuda Al-Makiis: "The operational firing test was an impressive success and allows the naval arm greater operational freedom of action. It strengthens Israel's naval attack array, which will continue to develop its capabilities and maintain naval superiority, its assets and infrastructure, and most importantly - the security of its citizens.".
The head of the Naval Weapons Department, Lieutenant Colonel A. added: "The success of the test marks a leap forward in the Naval Weapons Department's offensive capabilities, allowing us to optimally deal with threats in the maritime space. The Naval Weapons Department's fighters operated with great professionalism and precision, and the capabilities we tested and demonstrated in the test are already being reflected in combat in all arenas, and provide a significant operational advantage to our forces. The Naval Weapons Department will continue to develop and improve its offensive and defensive capabilities, in order to maintain its maritime superiority and ensure the security of the citizens of the State of Israel.".
