Eight fighters from the Rotem Battalion of the Givati Brigade were injured last weekend in an operation in Jabalia in the northern Gaza Strip.

According to a report this morning (Sunday) on Channel 2, three of the soldiers were seriously injured and their condition has stabilized.

The IDF informed the families of the injured, but did not publish the incident - and the details are being published following a request from 'Kan News'.

The eight fighters were apparently injured by an explosive device detonated in the building they entered.

The IDF increased the pace of fighting in the northern Gaza Strip three months ago in an operation in Jabalia, continued north to the Beit Lahia area and is now centering its efforts in Beit Hanoun: the northeastern part of the Gaza Strip opposite Kibbutz Erez, Nir-Am and Sderot.

The IDF says that, unlike previous raids, the current activity is slow and thorough, partly so that Israel can restore train operations in Sderot, which is still exposed to anti-tank fire from terrorists.
