We endangered human lives: Jerusalem District traffic police arrested two drivers who endangered lives today (Wednesday). In one case, a young man from the ultra-Orthodox city of Elad, whose video of his car going wild in the city of Beit Shemesh, was obtained by the police, and he was arrested. In the second case, a driver of a child transportation vehicle was caught carrying twice the number of passengers allowed. The arrests were made after detectives from the Jerusalem District's Central Traffic Unit, together with police officers from the Beit Shemesh Police Station, worked during the day to locate a driver who was filmed going wild with his vehicle in the city of Beit Shemesh - after a video of his actions was obtained by the police. The police were able to locate the owner of the vehicle, a young man in his 20s, at his place of residence in the city of Elad - and he was brought in for questioning at the Jerusalem Traffic Unit. The investigation into the case revealed that the owner of the vehicle under investigation does not hold a valid driver's license at all, and according to his investigators, this is not the first time he has driven a vehicle. At the end of his interrogation, he was imprisoned and the police intend to bring him before a court tomorrow.
At the same time, the motorcycle unit of the Jerusalem District Traffic Division stopped a children's transportation vehicle driven by a resident of Beit Hanina. When the traffic officers got into the transportation vehicle, they were surprised to discover overcrowding in the passenger seats, due to the fact that the number of passengers, all children, was double the permitted number - and that there were 40 children and one adult in the vehicle, instead of 20 passengers as permitted by law. Traffic law proceedings were initiated against the driver due to the seriousness of the offense and he was summoned to court. In addition, another transportation vehicle was called to the scene and half of the passengers were transferred to its care.
