Avital, the wife of Counterpart A, who was arrested in the 'leaking of classified documents' affair, participated today (Tuesday) in a discussion in the Knesset's Foreign Affairs and Security Committee on a bill known as the "Counterpart A Law" initiated by MK Hanoch Milbitsky, which aims to bring about his release from detention. "I came to convey the voice of my husband who cannot be heard. We are seven weeks and two days into this film. The action he took was purely for the benefit of the State of Israel and there is no argument about that," said Avital. She said: "I want to tell you a little about what my husband did in the last year. He has been in the reserves for 10 years. He did regular reserve service. He would go to the reserves regardless of the war once or twice a month, and that was the thing that was most important to him. In the last year, he has been in the reserves for over 200 days. They wanted to promote him at work and he told them that this year he was in the reserves. Love for the State of Israel and the country is a lamp to his feet, he has been volunteering since the age of 16. "I would go to events with him and he would tell me: 'I won't drink until the kidnapped people come back' - that's what was in front of his eyes. He is a law-abiding man who has the kidnapped people in front of his eyes. He is a man who has public responsibility. He made a mistake in the pipeline to which it was transferred, but from here to the difficult tract that we are going through, day by day it's up and day by day it's down. I come to release him and they arrest us and now what? He is in very, very difficult conditions. She said on the verge of tears: "He is in a transparent room and he says that all kinds of security detainees and terrorists pass by and shout at him, 'We know what you did, it was for the best, but the state betrayed you,' that's what he tells me. "I appeal to all members of the Knesset, we are not political people, he is far from that. This is not a matter of politics but of human rights. We just want him to be in the house and conduct the trial in a normative manner. A person who donated his soul." She asked: "How is it that a person who donated his soul for ten years experiences such abuse? I appeal to members of the Knesset on the right and left, please save our house, we no longer have anyone to turn to.".

MK Amit Halevi said in the debate: "This law was written in the blood of our soldiers and hostages. The absurdity according to which a soldier who passed security information to the Prime Minister or the Minister of Defense is considered a criminal must pass away. This is the recommendation of the Agranat and Winograd committees, and I wish we had legislated it before October 7th and the opposition parties V and S had acted as the righteous opposition party A did." The security forces' resistance stems from the desire to control the information conveyed to elected officials and represents a totalitarian mindset that has no place in Israeli democracy." He added: "The IDF, the Shin Bet, and the Mossad have isolated the prime minister, and these people are not yet in prison," when his words were interrupted by opposition members. "This law is intended to reform the military system." Halevy continued his harsh words toward the security forces: "It is a shame for all of us that the opposition in prison is cruelty that stems from the despicable vindictiveness of a system that isolated the prime minister, of a system that wants to preserve the totalitarianism that has knowledge and knowledge is power, vindictiveness for exposing people who should have brought the prime minister information and did not.
