Attorney Haim Bleicher of Mhonenu today (Wednesday) appealed to the police demanding that they arrest until the end of the proceedings three Arabs who brutally attacked a young Haredi man yesterday - who asked them to move off the road they were blocking. The Arabs attacked the detainee with an iron bar. They even tried to smash his head with a brick. The young man was taken to the hospital suffering from facial fractures, cuts and bleeding on his head. After the incident, the police announced that they had arrested three suspects in the incident. In his letter, Attorney Bleicher describes the serious attack: "My client was riding his electric bike and signaled to one of the rioters who was standing on the road to clear the crossing. In response, the rioter waved his hands at my client, which caused my client to fall off his bike and into a tree on the side of the road. At this point, the rioter began to push my client and shout 'Jew, Jew,' calling for more rioters to come to the scene. Additional workers arrived at the scene and began kicking my client's bike and trying to break it. My client tried to pull his bike, and then one of the rioters hit my client hard on the head with an iron bar, causing him to lose consciousness. "While my client was lying unconscious, the rioters began to kick his head and one of the rioters grabbed a baton with the aim of smashing my client's head. At the last minute, yeshiva students arrived at the scene and managed to repel the rioter from carrying out his plan and drive the rioters away from my unconscious client." In his letter, Bleicher emphasizes the seriousness of the incident, which could have ended in murder, and demands that the rioters be brought to justice: "This is a hostile incident of attempted murder with serious consequences, even though it was carried out spontaneously by terrorist rioters who had just been on the scene as construction workers. I will ask to act to keep the rioters in custody until serious racially motivated indictments are filed and to keep the rioters in custody until the end of the proceedings." Attorney Bleicher said: "Construction workers who "spontaneously" carry out a brutal attack on a yeshiva boy are a warning sign to all of us. We expect the police and the prosecutor's office to deal decisively with the attackers, to detain them until the end of the proceedings, and to bring them to justice.".
