A few days before his official release from the IDF, Brigadier General (res.) Ofer Winter visited Eli Feldstein, the defendant in the classified documents leak affair - who was in custody. According to a report by Michael Shemesh on Channel 2, Winter has been very friendly with Feldstein since the days when they served together in the army, and according to the sources, he came to support him. He met with him even before Feldstein was allowed to meet his family. It was also reported that, according to sources involved in the details of the visit, Winter entered the prison as a "senior security figure" and as "the former military secretary to the Minister of Defense." The sources added that Winter's visit was made at the request of the highest echelons in the army. Apart from Winter, Feldstein met in prison only with his lawyer and members of Knesset who have immunity and the right to visit prisoners. Winter, who officially ended his service in the IDF this week, attacked Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi earlier this week, saying that he had lost the moral authority to hold the position. Feldstein was released from detention on Tuesday after a month and a half.
