According to a report this evening (Monday) by Yaki Adamkar on the 'Walla' website, political sources claimed that Shas Chairman, MK Aryeh Deri, ordered the ministers not to sign - but two ministers denied this. Senior party officials explained to Walla: "We do not sign petitions from third-grade children. If we want to lead a real move to dismiss her, Justice Minister Levin will be honored to lead the decision in the government, it is within his authority." Minister Kari has managed to sign 13 out of 33 ministers so far and is aiming to reach a majority in the government, with the exception of Prime Minister Netanyahu and Justice Minister Yariv Levin, who will not actually sign. Even if Kari reaches this majority of 17 ministers, this is not an actual dismissal of the ombudsman, but a step intended to kickstart the move and hold a discussion on it in the government. However, senior coalition officials believe: "The move to dismiss her has low chances" - and not necessarily that Prime Minister Netanyahu is interested in this. This evening, Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir made a statement to the media during which he demanded that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Justice Minister Yariv Levin fire the attorney general. In a direct address to Netanyahu and Levin, the Minister of National Security said: "I am now addressing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Justice Minister Yariv Levin - they have reached the point of no return! The attorney general has embarked on a wild, anti-democratic and illegal campaign with one purpose: to overthrow the government and its head, by illegal means. In order for the right-wing government to be able to function, without the attorney general preventing it from doing so, we must stop this wild campaign and the advisor's coup d'état. "Therefore, I demand that the government convene this coming Sunday in order to decide on convening the public committee headed by retired judge Asher Grunis, in order to examine whether the attorney general can continue in her role as legal advisor to the government, and to bring the matter to a vote by the government. It is time to reach conclusions. It is time to act.".
