The police and the Shin Bet announced today (Friday) that the Southern District Attorney's Office has filed an indictment against Muhammad Amash, 24, an Israeli citizen resident of Jisr a-Zarqa, who swore allegiance to ISIS and published content supporting the organization online. "Following his interrogation, the attorney's office filed an indictment charging him with security offenses, including membership in a terrorist organization, expressing identification with a terrorist organization, and incitement to terrorism." Amash was arrested in a joint operation by the Shin Bet and the Israel Police during November. The interrogation of Amash, a student at the Beersheba College of Technology, revealed that he joined the Islamic State as a member, swore allegiance to the organization, and operated Instagram profiles through which he shared numerous extremist ISIS content, including calls to carry out an act of terrorism. "This is a foiling that sheds light on the influence of ISIS in Israel, which inspired murderous attacks by Israeli citizens," the police statement read. "This arrest joins other incidents that were recently revealed, in which young people were arrested who admitted to supporting ISIS and taking an oath to the organization. "The General Security Service and the Israel Police view with great seriousness any involvement or affiliation of Israeli citizens with terrorist activity, including with the Islamic State (ISIS), and will continue to work even harder to thwart it and to bring those involved in these offenses to the full extent of the law.".
