Zvi Yehezkeli, the Arab affairs commentator for i24NEWS, believes that the agreement they negotiated with Lebanon is bad for Israel - and called it "a cry for generations." "In moments like these when we are on the verge of an agreement, I remember it from 2006 and also in the gas agreement, we are missing something here - the relevance. Because now it is heard whether you are for or against and what you think - that is not the point," Yehezkeli began. "Let's see what such an agreement does to Hezbollah the day after. It is clear that Hezbollah will stay on its feet, it is clear that Iran will pour even more money into renovating the Dahiyya, renovating houses, etc. Let's put it this way, this agreement does not erase Hezbollah and essentially gives it an insurance policy that Israel will not attack it while it is not attacking it. We are actually in a situation where Hezbollah is on its feet and returning to being who it was." On the question of who in Lebanon will oversee that the agreement is being implemented, he said: "This is a kind of sloppiness in this agreement, because no one will be able to prevent it, just as they couldn't prevent the digging of the tunnels and the unloading of weapons. Weapons will flow many times more than they did before the war. "The years will show that there was a mistake here, and I would say we will cry for generations, to the extent that we are also doing harm to the Lebanese who were expecting this agreement, that maybe someone will bring out the armed Hezbollah for them, and of course to the residents of our north." He emphasized: "I would say something like this, this is '1701' which means peace for peace, or in the language I translate, 'nothing for nothing,' that's actually what we're getting here. Hezbollah will keep the weapons and we've now given it an insurance policy that Israel won't crush it. It's such a shame because we were very close, we were closer than ever, but we're getting nothing for nothing.".
