The offices of the Religious Council in Kiryat Ekron, a community located near Rehovot, were set on fire last Saturday night, after a masked unknown person set the place on fire with a Molotov cocktail. The police have opened an investigation. The incident occurred late at night, when the arsonist approached the window of the office of the chairman of the Religious Council, Yair David, threw a Molotov cocktail that caused the building to burn down completely - and fled. In a conversation with investigators, Yair David said: "Our community is characterized by impressive unity, the ability to respect each other across all sections of the public. I am saddened to see that such an extreme minority manages to commit such great vandalism." David added that the council is working to find alternative offices: "With all the pain and shock from the act, we have no choice but to fulfill our commitment to the public that needs us. We will rebuild the council offices and proudly continue to follow the path of the Torah and bring everyone closer."
