Yisrael Beiteinu Party Chairman MK Avigdor Lieberman made a firm statement today (Monday) at the start of his faction's Knesset meeting against a political agreement with Hezbollah. Lieberman began: "I call on all political leadership in the Israeli Knesset to stop the Jewish wars - let's focus on defeating our enemies. I have been hearing blatant attacks in recent days, and those who benefit from the situation are our enemies." He referred to the ultra-Orthodox recruitment storm and said: "Yesterday I heard one of the leaders of the ultra-Orthodox community say that 'being a deserter is a mitzvah' - it is not a mitzvah, it is blasphemy. When we bury our soldiers every day, wage fierce battles in Lebanon and Gaza, reservists receive orders for the fourth time, regular soldiers who are extended their service - this is the opposite of a mitzvah - this is blasphemy." He added: "I am also disappointed in the IDF on this issue, which is not fulfilling its role. Instead of sending draft orders to everyone - the IDF is conducting a buy-and-sell, and sending orders selectively instead of sending them to everyone according to the law." Regarding the agreement being formed in Lebanon, he said: "Those who are turning to a political settlement have learned nothing, are not drawing lessons and are living in a concept. As long as Hezbollah does not give up on its buildup, and we have seen in recent days that the Iranians are transferring $150 million, it is clear that the Iranians want a ceasefire until they rearm. A political agreement will lead us to war in another 4-5 years, Hezbollah by then will prepare and strengthen for the next war." Lieberman emphasized: "The war is not only against Hezbollah, but also against Lebanon. The Lebanese army authorizes Hezbollah to carry out the attacks. The Lebanese army and UNIFIL helped hide tunnels and weapons. The infrastructure of the state of Lebanon provides electricity and communications to Hezbollah. So do the airports and logistics centers through which money is transferred from Iran to Hezbollah. "In addition, we will oppose the renewal of the UNIFIL force in the Security Council. I hope we will finish their work here. We need to explain to the state of Lebanon that they are not watching the theater - they are taking an active part in the attack on Israel.".
