Tonight - Saturday night - at 2:00 AM, the clocks in Israel will move back one hour - to 1:00 AM, and darkness will begin to dawn too early. The clock change is carried out in accordance with the Time Determination Law. According to the law, the transition to winter time takes place on the last Sunday in October, and the transition to summer time - on the Friday before the last Sunday in March. The Ministry of the Interior announced that summer time will begin again, on the night of Friday, March 28, 2025 - 28 Adar 5785. The President of the Manufacturers' Union, Dr. Ron Tomer, has come out against the transition to winter time. An examination by the Economics Department of the Manufacturers' Union shows that the economic benefit of continuing daylight saving time to the economy, compared to winter time, is approximately 353 million shekels. It is also claimed that the energy savings from implementing daylight saving time are approximately 113 million shekels and the contribution to increased sales in the entertainment, leisure and tourism industries as a result of implementing daylight saving time may reach approximately 240 million shekels per year. Dr. Tomer: "Winter time in Israel is completely unnecessary. Daylight saving time, on the other hand, has a huge contribution to the economy, and therefore, it is better to apply it throughout the year.".
