A heated debate in the cabinet: After the series of attacks in recent months carried out by terrorists with Israeli citizenship - the last of which was in the city of Hadera by an Arab-Israeli from Umm al-Fahm, in which the holy Rabbi Raphael Mordechai Fishhof was murdered, last night (Friday night) National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir demanded, during a cabinet discussion, to begin demolishing the homes of Arab-Israeli terrorists.

According to a report on Channel 14, during the discussion, in which the deputy head of the Shin Bet participated, Ben Gvir claimed: “I don’t understand what we’re waiting for, there are Israeli Arabs and Bedouins who have carried out terrorist attacks – let’s demolish their houses now! Demolishing a terrorist’s house is in the hands of the Shin Bet and the IDF.”

The Shin Bet warned that this could have even more widespread repercussions. However, it does not appear that the prime minister is adopting the prediction.

Deputy Head of the Shin Bet: "Our professional position is that demolishing houses is not helpful, that it creates complexity."

Minister Miri Regev: "You recommend, but we, the political echelon, need to carry it out."

The deputy head of the Shin Bet tried to claim in response: "This will affect the homes of Jewish terrorist perpetrators" - and Ben Gvir immediately reminded: "The High Court of Justice ruled that there is a difference. The judges ruled that among Jews this is not a phenomenon."

Minister Smotrich added: “There is no support from the natural environment.”

Defense Minister Yoav Galant tried to calm the discussion and defend the deputy head of the Shin Bet: "Enough, I gave instructions to investigate and for the Shin Bet and the IDF to examine."

Afterwards, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced: "We will discuss in the coming days the demolition of terrorist homes and the deportation of families." This, despite the fact that the state has so far refused to discuss the demolition of Jewish terrorist homes.

At the end of the heated debate, the Minister of National Security demanded: "I also ask to discuss and promote the death penalty for terrorists. This must be done together."

A cabinet source told Kan News: "Prime Minister Netanyahu asked the government's legal counsel and the Shin Bet to examine, in advance of the next political-security cabinet discussion, the possibility of demolishing the homes of Arab-Israeli terrorists and deporting their families, whether or not they encouraged or prevented terrorist acts."

Since the beginning of the year, 12 attacks have been carried out by Arab-Israelis, two of them this week. This is a high and unusual figure compared to all recent years. The Shin Bet recognizes the trend, does not see it as a widespread phenomenon, but fears copycat and inspired attacks.

At the same time, the organization also carried out several foiled attacks by Israeli Arabs this year.

Police intelligence does not detect a change in the mood among Israeli Arabs, who have expressed identification with the state since the beginning of the war. The police estimate that the attacks are isolated incidents. There is no special operational preparation against Israeli Arabs.
