Thousands of Israelis who returned from Aman, where they spent Rosh Hashanah near the grave of Rabbi Nachman, have been dealing with delays at the small airport in Macau, Romania, since Sunday - and are suffering from a lack of food, cold and rain, and no shelter. As part of the attempts to assist the stranded passengers, Minister Miri Regev held a conversation with her Romanian counterpart, Minister of Transportation Sorin Grindino, on Tuesday evening. In the conversation, the Romanian minister promised to expedite the treatment of the Israelis and ensure their well-being, including providing food, drink and adequate conditions until they are flown back to Israel. Minister Regev: "I thank my Romanian colleague for the quick and efficient cooperation. Together, we are working around the clock to bring all Israelis home safely and as quickly as possible. I call on all passengers to be patient and to obey the instructions of the local authorities." Starting on October 7, the Ministry of Transportation, under the direction of Minister Regev, is maintaining aviation continuity and open skies throughout the entire period of hostilities. The flights to Baku and other destinations, including destinations in countries surrounding Ukraine, are flights operated by foreign and Israeli airlines, without the involvement of the Ministry of Transportation, on a commercial basis of regular commercial flights or designated flights organized by travel agencies. Minister Regev emphasized: "We are doing everything in our power to ensure the safety and comfort of our citizens." It should be noted that there is a joint task force for the Ministries of Transportation and Finance - which is working to return all Israeli passengers back to Israel. The Foreign Ministry's call center is at the disposal of those passengers and with their assistance it is also possible to reach a destination from which flights to Israel are available, such as Athens and Larnaca. From those 'hubs', hundreds of thousands of passengers travel to Israel, from all over the world, thanks to the increase in flights from these two destinations.
