Carmel: "Impure and destroyers of Judaism." Vider: "Who are you to say impure?" • Watch

עימות חריף התקיים ביום שלישי  בישיבת מועצת העיר בני ברק, בין יעקב וידר, חבר המועצה מטעם הליכוד, לבין חבר המועצה מנחם כרמל מהפלג הירושלמי. העימות החל כאשר מנחם כרמל  אמר בישיבת המועצה כי לא ישב לפגישה בלשכתו של וידר מכיוון שזהו מקום טמא, וכי מדובר במקום "שכל המהות שלו.. כל מה שמתעסקים זה להרוס את היהדות, הבחורים והישיבות". יעקב וידר תקף את כרמל ואמר לו: “למה אתה משקר? מי אתה בכלל שתכנה יהודים 'טמאים' ועוד בערב ראש השנה? תתבייש לך". וידר הוסיף: "אין פלא שמי שמסייע בעורמה לסיאוב ולריקבון העירוני שפוגע קשות בתושבי בני ברק - גם יכנה יהודים בצורה כה מזעזעת". Watch the documentary.  The harsh exchange of words was said after the exchange of emails between the two this week, as first published in 'Haredim 10', in which Carmel accused Vider of "impure" office, and after Vider's claims that Carmel and the Etz faction were pretending to be the opposition, while cooperating with Mayor Hanoch Seibert - this in order to prevent the opposition from having the representatives it deserves on important municipal committees, and thus preventing any control and supervision in committees that directly affect huge budgets, senior appointments and city management.
