The Shin Bet has decided to transfer Amiram Ben-Uliel, who was convicted of murdering the Dawabshe family in the village of Duma in 2015, from a security detention facility to the Torah wing in the coming days.

According to a report by Amit Segal, the move was initiated by the Shin Bet and was implemented following the integration of branches of rabbis in the national religious sector, led by Rabbi Yaakov Medan, Rabbi Menachem Burstein and officials representing Rabbi Dov Lior, with officials in the Shin Bet's Jewish division.

Segal noted that the Shin Bet's decision to transfer him to the Torah wing stems from humanitarian considerations.

The move was preceded by a number of actions carried out by the IPS and Shin Bet in recent months, to test Ben Uliel's suitability for such a transfer - including an experimental and gradual transfer to the Torah wing on Shabbats and holidays, when on the last Passover holiday and on the Tishrei holidays last year, Ben Uliel was transferred from isolation to the Torah wing.

The Justice for Amiram headquarters recently claimed that his condition deteriorated after he was transferred from isolation in Eshel Prison to isolation in the secure wing of Ayalon Prison.

The headquarters noted that during his imprisonment in Eshel Prison, Amiram was allowed to walk around the yard with another prisoner, and in Ayalon Prison he is in complete isolation both in his cell and in the yard.

Also, the headquarters claimed, permission for rabbis to visit Amiram was stopped, so the number of people with whom he could be in contact was significantly reduced.
