About ten days ago, during an operation by Jerusalem Police Detectives in the Harel Tunnels on Highway 1, a vehicle was stopped for inspection and to determine the identity of the driver.
During the inspection, police detectives suspected that there were drugs in the vehicle, and they conducted a search, during which they noticed a bag marked with the colors: blue, white, and red, and inside were found 28 wrapped packages containing pallets of dangerous drugs, a type of hashish weighing over 14 kilograms.
The drugs seized by police detectives were sent to a police laboratory for testing.
The accused - 40 years old, a resident of the south of the country - who was arrested, was transferred for questioning to the central unit.
During the investigation, he claimed that "I just bought the car."
The defendant's detention was extended from time to time at the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court.
Upon completion of the investigation at the Jerusalem Police Headquarters, an indictment was filed against him today (Tuesday) by the Jerusalem District Police Prosecution Unit for offenses of trafficking and possession of drugs not for personal consumption.
Alongside the indictment, the police prosecution requested an extension of his detention until the end of the proceedings against him.
